I love hearing and chatting with you guys, so please make sure you aren't a "No Reply" commenter (that means your email address isn't shown when you leave a comment so I can't email you back!). I recently have received a lot of spam comments so I've had to turn off the anonymous commenting - I hope you understand!
Hi Franish! I've come to your blog from GOMI, so I get where you're coming from on the bubble necklace. But I suppose with any trend it is in how you wear it, and actually I think it looks great against your blouse and with the blazer. I hate the phrase 'pop of colour' but it does give a little bit of colourful interest to the whole outfit. I like it! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Roisin. And can I just say I LOVE your style. Seriously, you are adorable and I want every single one of your dresses.
DeleteI actually like it too, but I'm also not usually the first (or twelfth) person to jump on a trend.
ReplyDeleteI saw bubble necklaces in a couple of colors at Charming Charlie over the weekend and debated picking one up. I may yet go back and get the one in a color similar to yours. I keep reminding myself that just because it's done to death by some fashion bloggers, it doesn't mean I have to wear it the same way. Gives me hope.
And I can definitely see myself wearing it similarly to you, especially for work.
Personally I'm kinda over the bubble necklace, but you paired it nicely. I'm LOVING that polka dot top though!!

I still like the bubble necklaces and that blouse is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteLove your top! And I am certainly NOT over bubble necklaces. I actually just got one and I want to wear it all the time! It's such a fun, easy way to make an outfit interesting :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great---I love how, at first glance, this seems like a simple outfit, but then you see the detail of the gold polka dots and the navy cuff on your blazer.
ReplyDeleteI know the bubble necklace has been done to death in blogland, but I've hardly seen them so far in my town, so I'm still wearing mine. I'll worry when my mom gets one! :)
I've never seen one in real life! I wonder why there is such a disconnect between blog wear and real life.
DeleteI was thinking the same, sad thing looking at my two bubble necklaces...kinda miss them! I'm in KC (midwest too) so I'll go with your whole 3 years behind on trends and wearing them at least another year :)
ReplyDeleteBubble necklaces are uncool? Dang, that makes me feel uncool for not knowing that. Anyway, I just remind myself that even though they may be over and done with in blogging world, there is still the real world. And most of the real world doesn't even know about bubble necklaces. Anyway, I like your outfit, necklace included :)

I still like the bubble, to be honest. It was definitely overdone a bit this summer when it was literally on every blogger almost every day, but that doesn't change the fact that they're still cute (and look especially great with fabulous gold polka dotted blouses). I'm still wearing mine occasionally too :)
ReplyDeleteI agree Laura - it seemed like every where you looked there was another one of those necklaces. Until they come up with some even crazier large object to wear around our necks, we'll just keep wearing them ;)
DeleteHaha, it's a plan! :)
Deleteits ok. i still have my blue one and kinda wouldn't mind a black one. oh well - i'm okay with being a little behind. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfit! I'm not over the look of bubble necklaces, just over people owning them in a rainbow of colors and wearing them at the exclusion of every other accessory. Yours looks great =)
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I don't care if everyone and their mom has it. I don't care if it is no longer popular or cool. I will wear it regardless because sometimes the outfit calls for it :)
ReplyDeletelove your outfits, like always!
I think you look cute! Personally, I still love the bubble necklace. They were still super rare in Australia as you had to ship them across etc. I love my turquoise one from J.Crew. I admit, I also love my orange one from eBay, dodgy knockoff though it is. If you love it, wear it x
ReplyDeleteHaha, that's how I feel about my bubble necklace now (in yellow). I just never read for it anymore because I have other jewels that aren't as overwhelming, but it is a nice way to spice up an outfit and I think this looks perfect :) Not overdone, just right!
ReplyDeleteWhether they are over or not, this one look really good with your outfit!
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of over it too. I splurged on one the very first time they came out at J.Crew in coral. It was so unique. No one had seen it everywhere, people asked if it was vintage. Now they. are. everywhere. Knockoffs, real ones, 5000 color options. I'm kind of over it, not because I don't love it - I still do - but because I hate the oversaturation of anything. I just wrapped mine in tissue and put it in the back of my closet. I'll bring it out again in a few years, maybe.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea Lauren, especially since you have one of the originals. Mine's a knockoff from H&M so it's probably not as high quality as yours unfortunately :(
DeletePssh, I still like the bubble necklace. I know GOMI rips them to shreds, but there's also something to be said about just wearing what you like.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you were reading GOMI! are you commenting too and just not telling me? ;)
DeleteGreat outfit! I love your blouse and the bubble necklace does add just the right amount of pizazz. ;) I am a bit late to the party too. My post today has me wearing one for the first time and it is a mini one. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm fairly over them, but *this* is how you're meant to wear them! Not bubble necklace + 30 other statement pieces. You look great! And I agree with the poster above, I have not seen one single person in the wild wearing a bubble necklace. We're probably just feeling oversaturated from blogs! (Now I kind of want to get one and secretly wear it without posting photos of the evidence!)
ReplyDeleteLove your necklace
ReplyDeleteI bought one a few months ago and now I don't like wearing it because they are EVERYWHERE. lol I like that mine is multi-colored though. I think it goes with more looks. I like your blue paired with this blouse though. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you love the bubble, wear the bubble. I love the bubble but I also have several colors so I wear the bubble! I also got a similar top from Target... you inspired me!
ReplyDeleteThe comments on this post were fascinating.
ReplyDeleteDelurking to say that I still love my bubble necklaces that I bought a while back -- I have one in a similar color to the one you are wearing here. I just wish they weren't so ubiquitous in the blogosphere right now.
ReplyDeleteOh, I absolutely love that blouse!
ReplyDeleteCute look! Loving your blouse!

I love this look! I bought a bubble necklace, but I never figured out how to style it! Maybe I shouldn't have gotten hot pink...lol
ReplyDeletei have never seen one person in my day-to-day life wear a bubble necklace, so even if they feel overdone in blogland, i think they can still be a unique accessory in the 'real world' and you should totally continue to wear yours - i love the color!
