booted

Polka Dots, Vest, Purplem4
After our little snow storm yesterday I felt it was necessary to give the hussy ankles a break and actually wear boots. These boots are about 3 years old and now are definitely starting to show their wear - as I was playing around in the snow this afternoon with the pups I felt one foot getting wet...because there's a tiny hole in the boot.

Dang it. I have worn these pretty much to the ground though (it seems to be a theme in my current closet) so finding a new pair of boots is pretty important. I think instead of just brown boots I'm going to look for some two-tone boots (like this or this pair). My mom just bought a pair of gorgeous Frye two-tones shoes so I'm hoping to find something similar in my price range.

  1. Love the polka dots with the puffy vest. The quilting gives it a nice texture, and I can't get over how pretty that purple looks against your hair and eyes!

  3. Good boots are definitely a must in the snow. My husband got me a pair of Lauren Conrad for Kohl's two-tone boots (brown/gray). They are like a cheaper version of a pair of Frye or Hunter boots I saw (can't remember the brand). Love your polka dots and vest combo :) Heather

  5. Love the polka dots and that puffer vest is my favorite! I have the black and navy one from J.Crew and I wear them ALL the time! Keep saving your money and one day you will have your very own Chanel bag. No need to be jealous of mine, I know you'll have yours one day :) Happy Friday!

  7. I heart this vest...so freakin' bad! Sorry about your boots. My favorite boots ripped by the ankle last year and I had the sads for a while. I still haven't replaced them because I can't find anything I like as much. Good luck in your search. Those are great options you are looking at!

  8. Fran,

Your hair is awesome. I love it. That scarf is the perfect pop of color! I'm currently suffering from polka dot shirt envy. I blame you.

  10. Oh! I didn't realize, until I looked closer, that your shirt has subtle white polka dots on it, too! I'm smitten. This is the third blog I've read this morning featuring a polka dot top. I'm officially a convert :)

  11. Still so obsessed with this polka dot shirt. I thought getting my gold one would help me get over it...but I think I'm still on the hunt for a black & white one! Super cute. And bummer about the boots. Check out etienne aigner for some great 2-tone ones!

  12. so sad to hear about your boots! I love the two-tone look, I'm trying to find a pair that I like in my price range too! The Steve Madden ones are lovely. Maybe boots will go on mega sale soon?!

  14. I also wore my winter boots to the ground (they're ripping along one seam). I've been wearing my Hunter wellies (with thick, wool socks) and they've been working out well. For Christmas, my parents gave me a classic pair of LL Bean boots. I still need to waterproof them though. Nothing like choosing function over fashion in the snow!

  15. Gosh, you're cute. Even in winter boots! Well done, friend.

  16. Snap, we are blouse twins today! I am so sick though so there's no photos :(

I saw two tone boots at the RL outlet for about $100. I have brown ones and would love two tone but I am not buying any more boots until next Winter. You look adorable x

  17. so sad about the boots - but at least you got your money's worth and you can buy another pair without feeling as if its something unnecessary, you know?

    adorable outfit today :)

  20. Ok just looking at these pictures makes my arms cold! I don't know if you saw my post from like two years ago about the boots that had holes in the soles, but I had them patched up for like twenty bucks (which is kinda expensive but then it saved me from going out to buy a replacement pair) so if the boots are still in good condition, only with a hole in the bottom, then I suggest that you take them to get fixed!

I'm missing a purple scarf in my closet. The color is so pretty!

  21. I still don't have anything polka dotted and I'm extra sad about it because you look extra cute in your little polka dotties.

Also, so random: but I had a dream about you? Call me creepy, I know. Total weirdo. But you dared me to disrupt a Jr. High cheer time by trying to sneak into the team and cheer with them on the sidelines. And I got caught, and kicked out of the school, and I accidentally left my brand new Madewell bag like yours (that I don't own in real life, but in a dream, I do what I want) at that school and they wouldn't let me have it back, and I was crying like a baby and you let me have yours because you felt so bad.

So if you're thinking that this is a sign you should give me your purse, that's what I'm thinking.

  24. I think it's great that you're wearing holes in your boots, it shows you really wear an item and get good use out of it. I should wear more holes in my stuff before I go out and buy new things!

  30. Hussy ankles? Glad you covered those up, but now what about your hussy forearms? A little modesty, Fran. My goodness.

And HELLO, I love the two-toned boots. I think they'd work really well with your wardrobe and style too.

  31. My sister had a pair of boots until this season that she literally wore until there were large holes in the soles of them. She loved those boots...but then my aunt most emphatically bought her a new pair of boots for her birthday as a way of hinting that she shouldn't be wearing boots with holes in them anymore. It's hard when you actually love a shoe! I hope you find a pair that's perfect for you!
