ready

Forever 21 Fantasy Floral Tassel Scarf
I am so ready for winter to be over. This one has felt particularly long, I think in part because of how long my days are and the lack of having free weekends. I'm sick of having to find ways to dress around the snow - it usually leaves me with having to wear a dress so I can wear boots, and then my one pair of full length dress pants for when it momentarily stops snowing. I'm ready for dresses that don't require tights, ankle pants, and sandals. I'm ready for my dogs wanting to by outside for longer than two minutes at a time - they've been cooped up all winter and it's starting to show.

I'm also ready for it to be the weekend. This coming weekend is the first weekend in months and months and months where we don't have any test the following week. Although I still have to study a lot, I plan on A. sleeping in and B. driving up to Buffalo to go shopping by myself. I haven't really gone to a mall by myself since I moved since I've always driven with friends, but this time I'm excited to just get to walk around and take as long as I want staring at things I probably won't end up buying. I did put in a few orders in the last week so I could try some things on and then have the opportunity to return in store. I ordered this scarf and am so excited to wear it all spring. The blues and reds in it will be perfect for wearing with a bunch of different items in my closet, and it's big and fluffy without being overwhelming. I also ordered this dress because I thought it would be a great quick throw-on dress, but it ended up being too short so I'm hoping they'll have the next size up in stores. I also ordered this blouse and this peplum top just to try on - I've never done the whole peplum thing because they have always been too short on me, but this one comes in tall so I'm hoping it'll be long enough.

  1. Ugh, I am so over winter! I am losing my ever-loving mind with all of this snow. MAKE IT STAHHHHHP.

I hope that you enjoy your weekend!! You deserve it. It's hard to remember to take time for yourself every once in awhile in med school. Protect yourself from burn out, and get some rest! XO

  2. I know how you feel! I'm over snow but not over winter. If it can be cold for just a little while longer, I'll be happy. Your hair looks amazing, Fran!

  3. Pretty scarf. I just bought a red and blue print (actually it was a couple of months ago, but I haven't gotten around to wearing it), but mine isn't nearly so saturated with color. Yours is a beautiful choice.
I would say you should move down South if you're sick of the snow, but we have had two snowstorms as well in the past month (though our snowstorms are less than two inches!).
Your hair and makeup look gorgeous.
    Stay warm.

    1. You should definitely break that scarf out in the next few weeks!

I'm jealous of the lack of snow you guys have - if we only got 2 inches of snow, I'd be so excited!!!!

  5. I am getting so sick of wearing tights too. I just had to buy another pair this weekend because a couple pairs are starting to see the end of their days since I've been wearing them so much.

  6. Love this scarf! And is your hair more blonde?.... I LOVE IT! Ugh, winter needs to end now. I usually enjoy getting ready, but lately it has been such a drag. Boots/tights or pants, repeat.

  7. So jealous of that awesome thrift store find! I need to get some blazers to mix up my professional wardrobe. I'm also totally with you on winter and med school - both are leaving me drained! Its so sad that I could tell you must go to school close by due to the similarities in our weather! This weekend is supposedly going to be "warm" so enjoy!

  8. ugh, I can relate to the boot/dress/pants problem. But not the dogs thing. My dogs just want to be outside all the time. Unfortunately I don't have a backyard, otherwise I'd just leave 'em out. ha. jk. kinda. Anyway, I would love to see how you style your navy peplum if it works out. I bought one months ago and have been at a loss just because I can't do navy and black. Have a great time at the malll!

    1. I know what you mean about the black and navy together, which is why this shirt (if it works) would be a "with jeans" kinda shirt. We'll see!

  9. I was JUST thinking about how sad I was that I hadn't read a post from you in a while. Thanks for filling my Fran void! Anyway, what a awesome thrift store find! It looks awesome on you and like it will be such a strong and versatile piece.

    1. I KNOW! last week was particularly bad for blogging with a new snow storm every day :( It just needs to stop snowing!

  10. I'm pretty much done with "winter" too but granted that we don't have snow where I live, it can't even be half as bad. We were/are in a drought and then suddenly had warnings for floods because of the rain. I don't like the rain when I have to go out. (End rant) love the simple look of this outfit!

  11. Ditto on the winter thing!!! So glad you had the weekend to chill and wonder around by yourself. Of course that's when I get myself into trouble and spend my budget in one trip - hope you had fun! :)

  12. I am looking forward to a time when snow boots are not necessary! Have a fun shopping trip this weekend :) I tend to shop better by myself (although my mom is indeed patient enough to come with me when she's in town!)

  13. YES! I agree wholeheartedly! Your scarf is adorable by the way, love it with the stripes!

  14. SO feel you on being over winter - we've finally had some nicer weather here, but of course, it's gonna start raining again on Wednesday. I suppose I should be relieved it's not snow?! But yeah, I want to be able to wear LESS than 5 layers at a time, please and thank you. Sending you warm thoughts!
    xx

  15. I could not agree more. Bring on the longer days of sunshine. I'd even settle for some rain if it meant the snow would go away.

Totally love this outfit though, so put together without being stuffy! Now if only you didn't have to cover it up with a jacket in real life right?

    1. I know! Luckily I only have to wear a jacket for the 2 minute drive to school :)

  16. I am so over winter too. I remember last year in blogland everyone got a case of the "springs" about now and we still had like two more months of winter weather. No. Fun. I, soooo over winter shopping though, those Presiden's Day sales weren't appealing at all, no, I don't want another sweater.

  17. Great great scarf! And yes!! So over winter! The snow melted today and I really hope that was the last of it. Just the thought of a sweater makes me wanna hurl right now!!!

  19. Love that blazer the moment I saw it, and dang it! When I saw it was thrifter I got kind of sad for myself that I wouldn't be able to go pick one up. Adorable on you though.

  20. I think this winter has felt particularly long to everyone. Perhaps the Polar Vortex is to blame! :) I love that scarf paired with the blazer -- definitely a look I could rock at work.

  22. Definitely on the same page about being over winter and especially the snow. I hope the peplum top works for you! I have the same problem with them being too short. Oh and I love that blazer, great thrifting find!

  23. I really have no room to complain, but this winter has been particularly rough on us in Alabama. We can't handle snow, and we've gotten quite a bit of it lately. Spring can start anytime now!
Also, I LOVE your blazer. It fits you perfectly, and it looks so cozy and warm.

  24. Send some of your snow this way... we need the rain!
At least your outfit is gorgeous, even if the weather isn't!

  25. That blazer is adorable on you and I love the scarf! Ugh, this winter is killllllling me! Only like 1 more month? Hopefully?

  26. New subscriber here :) I've been looking through your old posts and getting so much inspiration, and this post is no exception. Love the floral scarf paired with the stripes!

  27. Yes, I am ready for winter to be over too! It's just been too much cold and too much snow.
I do love your sharp blazer with the stripes and scarf, it's a great combo.

  28. Compared to last year, I am loving this winter! Where I am we had a really late winter (hardly any snow until February) and then it stayed unseasonably cool through most of June. No thank you. I'll take a freezing cold January in exchange for spring arriving on schedule!

    Also- cute scarf!

  29. I love love love winter, but I am over it. I'm ready to have spring...pretty colors, heels, no bulky jacket. I can see you getting a ton of wear out of that scarf. Hope you enjoyed your "Fran time" at the mall!

  30. I think shopping alone is the #1 most relaxing thing on earth. I swear I'm at the mall alone every payday after work and sometimes I don't even buy anything. You deserve a break! Have fun!

  31. I really love this look. So springy and cheerful and what a great scarf!!

  32. Considering that we just got 10 MORE inches of snow over the past couple of days (seriously, our snow banks are almost up to the windows...), I certainly can relate about being ready for a shift in the weather. It's been brutal! Luckily, I think the snow is gorgeous...but it sure doesn't make getting dressed or traveling any fun!

I really like your outfit today - the subtle mix of prints and patterns looks fantastic together. I love how those pants look on you! :)

  33. Just bought the F21 scarf b/c it looks awesome on you. How did you tie it? It ended up looking like a shawl on me. Help! I want to wear it Monday!

    1. Hey Catherine! I had it folded end to end so that it's a large triangle, and then I have the largest pointed part in front, and then I wrap the ends around my neck and tuck the ends into itself. I hope that helps, and that you love your scarf :)
